  • Solara, my story... - 2000 Toyota Camry Solara

This car is a mystery. Hasnt let me down yet, but has had a few minor flaws, like improper fitted carpet, rocking chairs, and delicate paint, and a love to go left. Suspension is quirky over rough surfaces. Never broke down, but have build quality issues. Quick, and stops on a dime. Transmission a bit rough for a Toyota. Looks nice, pleasant on the eye! Starting to get to many Solaras that look the same!

Ive owned a Mercedes Sedan,97 Volvo T5/750, & assorted American Cars. Even an 86 Toyota Supra-Loved it! What power!!!The 2000 Solara has been my most reliable, smooth driving, gas efficient automobile of all time! With its beautiful lines, lots of horsepower & great sunroof. Honestly -- I have never had ANY mechanical problems. I kept the maintenance up to date that they recommended, its as reliable as the day I drove it off the lot. Could have traded for a newer one - but I like the sporty style of my 2000 (w/ the spoiler on the back). Its red exterior glows because I keep it waxed & cleaned. The leather interior has never faded or ripped. Its truly a great car- I Love My Toyota!

Although car was puchased from one dealership, I did not like their service or personnel. I service vehicle at another toyota dealership who are extremely attentive, courteous and provessional.

I would encourage anyone seeking more power on the v6, 3liter engine to speek with Toyotas TRD (Toyota Racing Division)group, for about $5,200 I had a Toyota dealership install TRD supercharger, upping HP from about 200 to 276, sport suspention-springs and struts which lowers the car about an inch and a half, short shift making for a sweet short through and lastly a sport exhaust, throw in a K&N filter and Im the sleeper no mustang GT, regular BMW or Boxter expected to meet. All this and maintaining the Toyota warrenty!! Have Fun.

  • even in winter - 2000 Toyota Camry Solara

We all know of the fun of driving a convertible in the summer, but heres a switch. This car is reliable, safe and fun to drive in the winter also. From bundling up your kid and having the top down to put the Christmas tree in the back seat for the ride home, to the abs, traction control and low center of gravity. This car holds the road in ice and snow better than my suv and pickup. This is from someone who lives in snowy New Hampshire.

This car is loaded with nice features. The quality of this particular toyota is comparable to their lexus line. It is really smooth, and has plenty of power.

With 44000 miles, the car has been trouble free. The only surprize was the need for new front brakes (including rotors) at 20000 miles. Toyota replaced them under warranty.

  • You get so much for the price - 2000 Toyota Camry Solara

Ive owned my Solara for 2 years now and I still get a thrill each time I drive it. Its a perfect combination of sportiness, luxury, reliability and price. A car cant be all things to all people, but this one fits me perfectly. Its very comfortable to drive and the back seat can easily hold 3 people. The sound system is great and the automatic climate control keeps the cabin very comfortable. In 2 years, all Ive done is routine maintenance to my Solara.

I bought my 2000 Solara with 64,000 miles on it in 2002. I am still driving it today with 330,000 miles on it in harsh winters and hole riddled roads of Michigan. All I have had to do is basic routine maintenance, and replace the some suspension parts as they have wore due to all the mileage. I drive it back and forth to work (80miles round trip) every day, I could not have asked for a better car. I have had nothing but issues in the past with american cars, so I just bought my 16yr old a 1999 Solara with miles on it for school work and then college. Best car I have ever owned!

  • Incredible Car - 2000 Toyota Camry Solara

I bought my 2000 Solara used in 02 (with 61k) and had it for 10 years (ended at 162k). I had a 89 Beretta and 93 Civic before buying my 1st Toyota. Both were often in the shop so I bought this b/c of the Toyota reputation and it never let me down. In 10 yrs all I did was replace the brakes & battery twice, the alternator and the air conditioning. It rode smooth until some asshat hit & totaled it. It was even pretty good in the snow! If anyone is looking to buy a Solara I would highly recommend it--and trust me Im not a "car guy". My family was always American car owners. Now everyone owns a Toyota. Well, except me, I bought a Lexus w/ all the $ I got for its high resale value!
